I got told that my old profile is WAY too pessimistic. Not to mention the number of people asking whether I'm a f*cking philosophy student. So I thought for a change I'll write something about myself instead.

I was born in a city with one of the highest density of people. My parents decided that they're giving us a better future by moving to New Zealand. So at the age of 12, speaking very little English, I arrived in NZ.

After about, oh, say, 2 years of abuse from being in a state school where people decided it's fun to pick on that Chinese chick that doesn't talk much, my parents moved me to a Catholic girl school. Thanks to a group of gossipy friends and TV sitcoms I learnt my English rather quickly and finished high school with reasonably good grades.

Then come the dilemma of what to do after that. I'm kinda known to be interested in almost everything besides sports and politics. In high school I've done a bit of everything, and enjoyed a bit of everything. So after my parents convinced me that architecture or design won't get me anywhere, and the fact that I can't stand cutting living things open, I thought engineering was a safe choice.

Right now: I'm doing my PhD in signal processing. I still do sketches and some painting when I have time (which doesn't happen often. Believe me). Other things I do include: sitting around thinking about philosophical issue, playing on the guitar and sing, reading murder mysteries, THINKING about how to redecorate my place, hanging out in Borders with my darling poet fiance, talking to people about philosphical issues, whine about how people abuse the English language online, forming theories about people's interaction online, and try to convince my friends that they don't have to talk like a moron whenever they're online.

Current snap shot:
What I'm listening: OK Go
What I'm reading: Day Watch by Sergey Lukyanenko (Translated...)
Last movie I watched: Death Note

Got my blog at http://pingu_liz.blogspot.com/ so feel free to see what I'm up to these days.

Oh, and I'm terrible at trying to keep an empty conversation going. So, for example, any message saying "wassup" (which isn't even a word) will most likely be ignored.
