I propose that the leaders of all the great faiths of the world convene and work to forge a new religion that respects the dignity of all people, men and women....that can agree on ethical practices regarding the treatment of animals and a proper and healthy respect for our environment. Unless and until this happens we shall always fear the rise of nationalism, intolerance and tyrants.
personally I find religion silly, but if you must have one then surely there are principles common to all that you can agree on
I prefer to weed out the religious kooks right away-of course this leaves only a handful left-every now and then someone happens along that makes this worth the effort

what does history show me?...it shows me that progress has been the steady march AWAY from traditional fundamentalist social conservativism with the tenacious clinging onto of outdated nationalism and exclusionary faiths
Music: I suppose in a nutshell I appreciate music where the artists play instruments(turn-tables do not count in my thinking)...and I absolutely cannot abide "sampling"
Books: a great story is nice but I look for something where someone challenges our most cherished notions which no one has bothered to question-meaning, it is a rare author indeed that catches my attention.
Art/Movies: again...what is really "NEW"?...is art simply formula or is it simply pure idea? |
