I have just moved back to California from Japan where I spent a year teaching. I like books and art made from old junk. I was Librarian before teacher and I'm fixin' to be it again.
Some things I like:
Poetic Terrorism, Non-Local Immediacy, Ladders, Ghosts, Time travel, Accordions, Shipwrecks, Unprovoked Singing, Romancing Machinery, the mustache, The Multiverse, god awful poetry, big bees, tony leung, spare spines, 5% theology, songs about drifters and boats built on land.
Some things I'm like: A Sad Bastard, a pack of creeps fighting a gang of jerks, garbage, a noise machine, glue, worn and weathered shoes.
Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Charles Bukowski, Jose Luis Borges, Hip Hop (yes, hip hop), Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami, Astor Pizolla, Wong Kar Wai, and The Beats saved My Life.
I enjoy the strange and beautiful, nonsensical and musical, the cryptic and filmic, from the triptych down to the doodle.
You know something I don't, ya oughtta say so. After all, isn't that what this thing is for?
Not to worry, I have a blackbelt in Haiku and am classically trained in Conspiracy.
I engineer sound and concrete music for laughs.
