There *are* Elliott Smith fans out there...
Picture is my 2 most prized possesions - the top one is my Gibson ES-335, the bottom is my Harmony Sovereign 1203 (that guitar is older than I am)
You spend all your years from 5 to 18 in school, 18 to 22 in university, and then you get a job. For the rest of your life. Hours turn to days, days to weeks, weeks to months, months to years, and years to a lifetime. Does anyone else feel cheated?
'Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.'
I smoke too much, don't drink enough, love mexican food, hate dancing, and play the guitar. I don't understand the obsession people in this country have for football (that's soccer to any passing americans), I hate the compensation culture we've grown into, I love good films (well, duh), and I get worried when I think about the future too much.
It strikes me that you can have some pretty circular conversations on this place under the right conditions - I'd esteem it a great service if you could tell me what I sent you when replying to me :) I'll try and do the same... |
