I am -
A human being, songwriter, awful poet (shitty haikus primarily...), the Prime Minister of Angola, musician and feminist icon. (OK, I made some of that up...)
I'm currently a solo, 'bedroom musician' making good of the ideas I've been harbouring for ages in bad local indie rock bands and periods of self-doubt.
I'm teaching myself the lap steel guitar (to my style and uses) and I've recently bought a Korg synth and I'm trying to pick up a few travelers along the same road. ( a good female singer'd be nice...)
The music I'm making now is shaped upon the influences of M83, My Bloody Valentine, 'A Storm in Heaven' by Verve, Asobi Seksu, Eno, Kraftwerk, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Bright Eyes and Casiotone for the Painfully Alone.
So expect highly unfashionable synth-and-guitar-heavy shoegaze/dreampop with post-rock influences and my lyrics that make me sound like I'm singing about my girlfriend having just dumped me even when it's a song about how happy am and how much I love life... heh heh...
Other bands/artists I like include Nick Drake, REM, Mazzy Star, Mercury Rev, Hell is for Heroes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jonathan Fire*eater/The Walkmen, Fugazi, The Beach Boys (well, Pet Sounds era anyway), Smashing Pumpkins, Weston, Stellastarr*, The Cooper Temple Clause, Beck, Grandaddy, Jimi Hendrix, Super Furry Animals, Manics (circa The Holy Bible), Queen Adreena, Trail of Dead, Idlewild, The Stooges/Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, Jeff Buckley, DJ Shadow, Ramones, Million Dead/Frank Turner, Pixies, Stone Roses, Robert Johnson, The Stills, ˇForward, Russia!, The Libertines, Joseph Arthur, Television, Seafood, Longwave, Primal Scream, Charlatans, Bob Dylan, Joy Division, At The Drive-in (The Mars Volta are good but they annoy me!), Nirvana, RATM, Elliott Smith, Portishead/Beth Gibbons... and much more. I love music. Perhaps too much so...
Get in contact - I'm always eager to talk to new and interesting people...
My music MySpace page is found at www.myspace.com/ixolene
The music page is a total work in progress and the music currently there will bare little resemblance to the work I'll be doing once I've got the last few bits of equipment I need.
I also have a page for my music that I'm writing for my film making course - http://www.myspace.com/edsfilmmusic
And my Last.fm page - http://www.last.fm/user/Ehdee/ |
