Hi, I am 58 and got on a different track with my life around 2000 going back to school and getting a credential. I became discouraged with traditional schools and thought of my own, crativelearningadventures.com . While struggling with selling myself and the idea an earthquake hit Pakistan in late 2005 and I dropped everything and flew over there, deeply moved wanting to help communities to pull together. I still don't know how this came to me but I really locked onto the idea and have spent six month there since then and have had some successes. Now my focus is on inspiring changes at the community level having to do with how they relate. I see this as the first step to any sustainable change. I did start an organization (with help) called Little World Community Organization. "I help myself by helping others." is the motto. The idea is to draw out and then support the creativity of communities to pool their resources to help themselves successfully. A drop of caring is so healing. At times it is discouraging but I stay at it. It would be great to be a part of something beyond just me. People in the USA are generally afraid of Pakistan but the people there are desperate to be our friend. What do you thihk? Some people are helping now and we are trying to market things that the women on our schools have made in order for them to support the effort to raise themselves out of poverty with education and community. There are thousands involved now, mostly women. It could become a global movement. lwco.org
