I have been called wise. This is true if wisdom is defined as the state that one achieves as a result of surviving the multitude of mistakes and wrong turns one takes. It is also true if one lives to be older than dirt.

I walked Haight Ashbury before the flower children showed up and worked in the fields of grapes that Caesar Chavez' UFW struck. I lived American Grafitti in a small California rural town.

I know what it is like to be poor and am not afraid of it. I know what it is like not to be poor...and am not afraid of that either.

I am the beginning of the Baby Boom born of parents who not only gave a damn but also were ahead of not only their time but this time, as well.

I am now at the age where those I know and have known are moving to "The Other Side". At this writing, I am dealing with the reality that lovers who were so vibrant and passionate not so long ago are no longer. My peers still here are at a time in life when rather than talking about bruises and scrapes, they talk about colonoscopies and cancer. For some, they seem to have given up and await the inevitability of their death.

Well, I am in the third act of a three-act play...and, folks, it's going to be one hell of a third act with the curtain call yet to come. When Death comes to claim me, he shall find me dancing with a bottle of champagne in one hand and embracing a passionate lover with the other.

In the winds of change, my friends, you must keep the fire within, and at every opportunity, use this fire to set the lives of others ablaze.
