The Washington Post called my new novel Purple Jesus "a literary event of the first magnitude" and said that it "is so perfectly written, it's exhilarating to read." I'm also a philosophy professor and have published on Heidegger, Whitehead, Dewey, and environmental philosophy. My interests include literature (esp. of the American South), world religions (although I am not religious), and battling pseudo-science. I'm married to the most spectacular woman in the world, have three terrific children, and am an amateur bluegrass musician.
