mother, business owner, community hostess, living paradoxically, have lived around and outside of the USA. More later....
Feb 2007 - a little more: I started my business in 2003 with a vision about connecting people and nurturing creativity. Now, we are poised to turn the business into a co-operative. I will be making half of the business available to people who want to buy shares and are part of the fiber arts community. Later, i will dilute my ownership further.
We are also launching a program to allow our customers and staff to earn extra money by publishing their designs as patterns and kits. This allows them to focus on the creativity and gain a little recognition for their work, perhaps support the cost of their craft, all without having to start a business of their own.
What's behind my thinking here? Just ask. One key element is the concept of Servant Leadership coined by Robert Greenleaf. (google it, you'll find a definition.)
More again, later....
Nov 2007 - so much change in 9 months. All business plans on hold as I get treatment for a serious illness that became increasingly debilitating in the last two years. Moved my business into my home, very part time. Hosting community there and embracing the slow life as I wait to see what unfolds. |
