Happy, healthy, hetero man , college educated. I have little interest in professional sports, I'm a boatbuilder for pleasure, sailor and fisherman. I enjoy cooking and read daily. Gardening, food and flowers.
May 2010 Lately, I have ventured into new areas in my brain. I had a stroke in the night and couldn't speak, and had loss of feeling. In January, I was communicating in the literate more than in the oral. That brings up new experiences and closes up others. Have you ever upended all that you thought knew? It happens all of the time. Now, 4 months later, I'm walking and talking and trying new experiences like I began as a much younger man. Dancing is one of those, because I had a block about dancing and ridicule from my adolescent years. Yoga exercise is another. I wonder what's next?
March 2011 Here it is with my stroke 14 months later. I am physically similar to how I was pre-stroke but I use different ways to get things done. I have spent more time with friends and family and I have found the love of my life once I discovered that she is widowed. The bittersweet is that I had loved her husband as a friend and mentor as well and we had lost contact over the years. Ready to move forward, we have found a new purpose and excitement to our lives. I hope that everyone can find this new moment. As yet we still live with the distance between ourselves but through the wonders of communication, we speak and live. |
