John got his first "computer" an ADM3A dumb terminal with a Hayes 300 baud smartmodem at around 8 years old. He quickly learned to access VAX and Unix servers. His first personal computer(PC) was a ZORBA CP/M z80 machine on which he learned a variety of programming languages. The arrival of MS/DOS was a chance to quickly advance in computer systems. He was around for the first personal computers, eg. the Texas Instruments 99/4a , Commodore PET and Commodore 64. Although he originally hated the arrival of Windows 2.0 with it's GUI he learned how to run such systems with great proficiency and became a network consultant (installing mostly Lantastic networks) during the late 80's and early 90's, before the coming of HTTP protocols and the world wide web(www). He is now heavily involved with HTML, web design, and all aspects of modern computing. He has been involved in computers and networking his whole life and has had a variety of careers including Heavy Equipment operation, writing, networking, Mechanical/electronic/computer troubleshooting and repair. He has a Bachelors degree in Biology with minors or minor equivalency in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, German, and Biochemistry. |
