I am originally from Pakistan (born & bred) and am studying mechanical engineering at University of Bradford. I love to read (for fun), watch movies (for fun), play table tennis and listen to a large variety of music.
Some of the films I love,
Amelie Casablanca Taxi Driver Cruel Intentions American Pie Se7en Lilya 4-eva My Fair Lady West Side Story Closer Finding Neverland Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless MInd Science of Sleep Trainspotting
My top ten favourite books:
1. The Silmarillion - J. R. R. Tolkien 2. A Song of Ice and Fire Saga - George R. R. Martin 3. Heidi - Johanna Spyri 4. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 5. Anne of Green Gables - Lucy Maud Montgomery 6. Winter's Tale - Mark Helprin 7. The Light Ages - Ian R. MacLeod 8. Mission of Gravity - Hal Clement 9. Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte 10. The Runner - Cynthia Voight
Only the first one is set in stone. I used to be a pretty avid reader but uni in general, and apathy in particular has severely curtailed the number of books I have finished recently. :(
Rammstein, Moldy Peaches, Mehdi Hassan, Pink Floyd, Belle & Sebastian, The Kinks, Sonic Youth, New Order, Joy Division, The Who, Corona, Incognito, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mohammad Rafi, Vital Signs, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Cream, Junoon, Beatles, Eminem, mos def, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Timbaland, Nas, The Shins, Frou Frou, Counting Crows, The Pretenders, T.A.T.U, Fuzon and Frank Sinatra are some of the artists/bands that frequent my playlist. They are by no means the whole extent though and I am always open to new music suggestions, in any language/style/genre.
High Hopes by Pink Floyd is probably my favourite English language song.
Sports are another love of my life. Cricket, field hockey and table tennis constitute my holy trinity.
Other 'hobbies' include studying maps, hiking, wiki-ing and browsing the internet.
Engineering is a pretty fun subject. Long-term aim is to join the ESA (or the russian/french equivalent, pending good funding and the requisite language skills). |
